PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the wire from terminal M.
2. Using auxiliary wires, connect the battery terminals to terminals S and M.
3. Turn on the ignition. The starter pinion will extend forward.

4. Use a feeler gauge to check the clearance between the pinion and the stopper. If the clearance differs from the specification, adjust it by adding or removing shims between the magnetic switch and the front cover.

Pinion clearance: 0.2–0.5 mm
