Limp Home Procedure

If the immobilizer has failed, you cannot start the engine without the Limp Home procedure using the ignition key.

Procedure for starting the engine using the Limp Home function (0, 1, 2, 3 as a simple password).

You can obtain the Limp Home password when purchasing the vehicle. If you do not have the password, consult an authorized Hyundai dealer.

1. To set the password, turn the ignition key to “ON” and then to “OFF” according to the digit. For example, turn the ignition key once for “1” and twice for “2”, and so on. For “0”, turn the ignition key 10 times.

2. Wait 3-10 seconds.

3. Set the remaining digits by repeating steps 1 and 2.

4. If all four digits are entered correctly, you must start the engine within 30 seconds. If you start the engine after 30 seconds, the engine will not start.

If the engine stalls while driving after performing the Limp Home procedure, you can restart the engine within 8 seconds with the ignition switch in the "OFF" position without repeating the Limp Home procedure.

After performing the Limp Home procedure, consult an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible.

CAUTION:

If you cannot start the engine despite performing the Limp Home procedure, tow the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealer.
