Limp Home Procedure

If the immobilizer indicator flashes for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, this indicates that the immobilizer has malfunctioned. You cannot start the engine with the ignition key without the Limp Home procedure.
Engine Starting Procedure Using the Function (0, 1, 2, 3 as a simple password)
You can obtain the Limp Home password when purchasing the vehicle. If you do not have the password, consult an authorized Hyundai dealer.
1. To set the password, turn the ignition key to “ON” and then to “OFF” according to the digit. For example, turn the ignition key once for “1” and twice for “2”, and so on. For “0”, turn the ignition key 10 times.
2. Wait 3-10 seconds.
3. Set the remaining digits by repeating steps 1 and 2.
4. If all four digits are entered correctly, turn the ignition key to "ON" and check that the immobilizer indicator lights. You must now start the engine within 30 seconds.
If you start the engine after 30 seconds, the engine will not start.
If the engine stalls while driving after performing the Limp Home procedure, you can restart the engine within 8 seconds without repeating the Limp Home procedure.
5. If the immobilizer indicator flashes for five seconds, you must repeat the Limp Home procedure from the beginning.
After performing the Limp Home procedure, consult an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible.
CAUTION:
• If you have failed to perform the Limp Home procedure three times, wait for one hour and then perform the Limp Home procedure again.
• If you cannot start the engine despite performing the Limp Home procedure, tow the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealer.
