SRS Maintenance

The SRS requires virtually no maintenance and has no parts that you can service yourself. The entire SRS should be inspected by an authorized Hyundai dealer 10 years after the vehicle's manufacture date.

Any work on the SRS, such as removal, installation, repair, or work on the steering wheel, must be performed by qualified Hyundai technicians.

Improper handling of the SRS may result in serious injury.

• Extremely dangerous! Never install a rear-facing child restraint on a seat protected by a frontal airbag!

• Modifications to SRS components or wiring, including adding any kind of decal to the airbag cover, or modifications to the vehicle body structure may adversely affect SRS performance and may result in possible injury.

• To clean the airbag soft covers, use only a soft, dry cloth or a cloth dampened with clean water.

Solvents or cleaners may adversely affect the airbag cover and the operation of the system.

• Do not place any objects on or near the airbag modules on the steering wheel, instrument panel, or passenger-side instrument panel above the glove box, as such objects may interfere with airbag inflation in a severe collision.

• If the airbags have deployed, they must be replaced by an authorized Hyundai dealer.

• Do not damage or disconnect SRS wiring or other SRS components, as this may cause injury due to sudden airbag deployment or render the SRS inoperative.

• Do not install a child restraint system on the front passenger seat.

Never place a child restraint system on the front passenger seat. An infant or child may suffer serious injury if the airbag inflates in an accident.

• If you need to dispose of SRS components or scrap the vehicle, observe the necessary safety precautions. Your Hyundai dealer knows these precautions and can provide you with the necessary information. Failure to follow these precautions and procedures may increase the risk of injury.

• If you sell the vehicle, be sure to inform the new owner of these important warnings and make sure that they receive this manual.

• If your vehicle has been flooded and the carpet is wet or there is water on the floor, do not attempt to start the engine.

Tow the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealer.

• Replace the bumper or bumper cover only with genuine Hyundai parts. Otherwise, the SRS performance may be adversely affected and unexpected damage may occur.
