Seat Belts

To protect you and your passengers in the event of a crash, it is important to use the seat belts correctly.

Seat Belts - Three-Point Seat Belt with Emergency Locking Retractor

This type of seat belt does not require length adjustment. When worn, the belt adjusts automatically to the occupant's movements, but in the event of a sudden or severe impact, the belt locks automatically against the body.

How to Fasten

Insert the tongue into the buckle until it clicks.

CAUTION:

• Always position the lap portion of the belt as low as possible on the hips.

• Do not twist the seat belts when fastening them.

Pull the belt lightly to adjust the tension as desired.

How to Unfasten

Hold the tongue and press the button on the buckle.

Since the belt retracts automatically, hold the tongue while releasing it so that the belt retracts slowly.

Seat Belt with Pretensioner (if equipped)

The seat belt with pretensioner normally functions in the same way as the seat belt with emergency locking retractor. (When the vehicle stops suddenly, the belt locks in position. It also locks if you try to lean forward too quickly.) However, in a vehicle crash, the pretensioner rewinds the belt webbing. This quickly restrains the occupant's movement and also reduces slack in the belt webbing.

• When the seat belt pretensioner activates, a popping noise may be heard. This is normal and not dangerous.

• The seat belt pretensioner is designed to operate only in a sufficiently severe impact and cannot be reused.

If the seat belt pretensioner has activated, do not attempt to replace it yourself.

It must be replaced only by an authorized Hyundai dealer.

Lap Seat Belts (with Non-Locking Retractor) (if equipped)

This type of lap belt is equipped with a non-locking retractor.

Holding the tongue by hand, pull it out until the webbing is fully extended, and insert the tongue into the buckle.

When it fits snugly over your hips, the webbing with the tongue is retracted automatically.

To release, unfasten the belt, and a light tug on the webbing with the tongue will activate the retractor automatically.

Lap Seat Belts (Static Type) (if equipped)

Lap belts must be adjusted by holding the belt and the tongue at right angles to each other and pulling the belt, as shown below, until it fits snugly on the occupant.

Holding the tongue by hand, insert the tongue into the buckle.
