Starting and Operation

Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) (if equipped)

~1min read

The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent the wheels from locking completely during sudden braking or on hazardous road surfaces. The computer monitors the speed of each wheel and controls the pressure supplied to each brake.

Therefore, in emergency situations or on slippery roads, the ABS improves vehicle control during braking.

While the ABS is operating, you may feel a slight pulsation in the brake pedal when braking. You may also hear a noise from the engine compartment while driving. This is normal and indicates that the anti-lock brake system is functioning properly.

ABS не предотвращает аварии из-за неправильных или опасных маневров во времяCAUTION:

ABS does not prevent accidents caused by improper or dangerous driving maneuvers. Even though vehicle control improves during emergency braking, always maintain a safe distance from objects ahead. In extreme road conditions, always reduce vehicle speed. Braking distance for vehicles equipped with ABS may be longer than for vehicles without this system under the following road conditions:

• Driving on bumpy, gravel, or snow-covered roads.

• Driving with snow chains installed.

• Driving on roads with many potholes or uneven road surface height.

Drive at lower speeds on such roads. Do not test the safety of a vehicle equipped with ABS by driving at high speed or turning. This endangers you and others.
