Ambient Air Temperature Sensor (ATS) Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

The ambient air temperature sensor (ATS), installed on the front module, detects the ambient air temperature. The ECM uses the intake air temperature and ambient air temperature values at the same time to accurately control the amount of intake air supplied through the turbocharger. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases as temperature rises, and vice versa. This sensor has a negative temperature coefficient (NTC), and its resistance is inversely proportional to temperature.
