Description
The Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) consists of zirconia and alumina and is installed upstream and downstream of the manifold catalytic converter. The output voltage of the sensor depends on the air-fuel ratio. The sensor must be heated to function properly. To maintain heating, the element is equipped with a heater controlled by the ECM through a duty cycle signal. When the exhaust gas temperature is below the specified value, the heater warms the sensor tip.
