The graph above shows typical crankshaft position sensor (CKPS) and camshaft position sensor (CMPS) waveforms at slow speed. The PCM controls ignition timing using these signals. Generally, the CKPS signal is used to detect piston position, and the CMPS signal is used to detect the top dead center of each cylinder.
