repair procedures

BRAKE BOOSTER FUNCTIONAL CHECK

Perform a simple functional check of the brake booster as follows.

  1. Start the engine and let it run for one to two minutes, then stop it. Depress the brake pedal fully at first; on subsequent presses, the pedal should rise higher. If the pedal height remains unchanged, the booster is not functioning properly.

  2. Depress the brake pedal several times with the engine off.

Then depress the brake pedal and start the engine. Does the pedal move down slightly? If yes, the brake booster is normal. If there is no change, the brake booster is faulty.

  3. Depress the brake pedal with the engine running, then stop the engine. Keep the brake pedal depressed for 30 seconds. If the pedal height does not change, the brake booster is functioning normally. Does the pedal move up? If yes, the brake booster is faulty.

If all three of the above tests are passed successfully, the brake booster performance is considered good.

If even one of the three tests described above is not satisfactory, inspect the check valve, vacuum hose, and brake booster for malfunctions.

Remove the brake booster mounting nuts (A).

Tightening torque: 16.7 ~ 26 N·m N·m

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose (A) and ISG connector (B), then remove the brake booster.

TEST

  1. Check the check valve in the vacuum hose, the booster, and the connection area.

  2. Check the boot for damage.

Installation

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  2. After installation, bleed the brake system.
