Using the smart key

Park the vehicle and stop the engine. Arm the system as described below.

  1. Stop the engine.
  2. Make sure that all doors (and tailgate) and the hood are closed and latched.
  • Lock the doors by pressing the button on the front outside door handle with the smart key. When the above steps are completed, the hazard lights will flash once to indicate that the system is armed.

If any door remains open, the doors cannot be locked and a warning chime will sound for 3 seconds. Close the door and try to lock all doors again.

If the tailgate or hood remains open, the hazard lights will not flash and the anti-theft alarm will not be armed.

If the hood and tailgate are then closed, the hazard lights will flash once.

  • Lock the doors by pressing the lock button on the smart key.

    • When the above steps are completed, the hazard lights will flash once to indicate that the system is armed.

    If any door (or tailgate) or the hood remains open, the hazard lights will not flash and the anti-theft alarm will not be armed. Once all doors (and tailgate) and the hood are closed, the hazard lights will flash once.

    Using the remote control

    Park the vehicle and stop the engine. Arm the system as described below.

    1. Stop the engine and remove the ignition key from the ignition switch.
    2. Make sure that all doors (and tailgate) and the hood are closed and latched.
    3. Lock the doors by pressing the lock button on the remote. When the above steps are completed, the hazard lights will flash once to indicate that the system is armed.

    If any door (or tailgate) or the hood remains open, the hazard lights will not flash and the anti-theft alarm will not be armed. Once all doors (and tailgate) and the hood are closed, the hazard lights will flash once.

    • Do not arm the alarm until all passengers have exited the vehicle. If the alarm is armed while passengers are still inside, it may trigger when they leave the vehicle. If any door, the tailgate, or the hood is opened within 30 seconds after the alarm is armed, the system will be disarmed to prevent an unnecessary alarm.
