To close the tailgate, lower it and push firmly down. Make sure the tailgate is securely latched.

WARNING When closing the tailgate, be careful not to pinch your hands, feet, or other body parts. CAUTION When closing the tailgate, make sure nothing is near the tailgate lock and striker, as this may damage the latch. WARNING - Exhaust gas If you drive with the tailgate open, dangerous exhaust gas may enter the vehicle and may cause serious injury or death to vehicle occupants.

If you must drive with the tailgate open, keep the air vents and all windows open to allow additional fresh air into the vehicle.

WARNING - Luggage compartment Passengers must never ride in the luggage compartment where restraints are not provided. To avoid injury in a collision or sudden stop, passengers must always be properly restrained.
