Fuses and Relays

~1min read

GENERAL INFORMATION

FUSES. Fuses break the circuit in the event of accidental short circuits.
Главные предохранители расположены в колодке со стороны водителя. Для доступа

The main fuses are located in the fuse box on the driver's side. To access the fuses, open the fuse box cover.

Дополнительные плавкие предохранители и прерыватели смонтированы в монтажном

Additional fuses and circuit breakers are mounted in the junction block located in the engine compartment.

Перегоревший предохранитель (2) можно опознать по расплавленной токовой нити

A blown fuse (2) can be identified by its melted fuse element (1 – good fuse).

Replacement

PROCEDURE

1. Before replacing a fuse, make sure the circuit is switched off.

2. Remove the fuse using tweezers.

3. A spare fuse is provided in the block.

4. Before replacing, determine and rectify the cause of the blown fuse. The new fuse must exactly match the one being replaced.

5. The fuse current rating is indicated by colour coding (see the Colour Coding table).

6. The radio fuse is located behind the radio and is replaced after the radio is removed.

Colour Coding: Orange 5A; Red 10A; Blue 15A; Yellow 20A; Clear or white 25A; Green 30A. RELAYS: Relays are used in the vehicle electrical system both to make and break high-current circuits and to operate as timers.

Relays are mounted next to the fuse box in the passenger compartment and in a separate block located in the engine compartment. The location of other relays depends on the vehicle model.

On most vehicles, the turn signal and hazard warning flasher relay is mounted on a bracket under the lower dash panel on the driver's side.

Above the turn signal unit is mounted the headlight reminder (warning) buzzer relay.

The ABS system relay is located on the relay bracket in the engine compartment.

If the circuit controlled by the relay fails and the characteristic clicks are not heard, the relay itself is faulty. Otherwise, look for the fault in the circuit itself or in the relay control circuit. In this case, it is recommended to replace the relay with a known good one that exactly matches the original.

To remove the relay from the socket, first disconnect the corresponding circuit.
