* These models are equipped with an airbag, which may deploy (inflate) when connected to the battery. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least two minutes before starting work on the airbag.

* If your vehicle's stereo has an anti-theft code system, make sure you know the radio activation code before disconnecting the battery.

If the continuity between the connector terminals is not as specified in the table, replace the ignition switch.

Inspection and Replacement

PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the center trim panel and turn it over to access the rear window defroster switch.
3. Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity between the specified terminals when the switch is in each position.
4. Replace the switch if the continuity between the connector terminals is not as specified in the table.
