SEAT BELTS

It is well known and proven that seat belts provide reliable protection for the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. For this reason, the use of seat belts is required by law in most countries of the world. Seat belts must be fastened before the vehicle is moved, including when driving within city limits. This rule also applies to passengers in the rear seats, including pregnant women. For them, diagonal-lap belts are most suitable.

General Recommendations: Do not fasten one seat belt for several passengers at the same time, even children.

No hard or fragile objects, such as glasses, pens, key rings, smoking pipes, etc., may be located between the belt and the body, as under certain circumstances they may cause serious injury.

Several layers of clothing, such as a coat and jacket, worn by the driver or passengers adversely affect proper seat belt fit and thereby reduce their protective function.

Diagonal-Lap Inertia Seat Belts

Seat belts of this type provide complete freedom of body movement when tensioned smoothly. They lock during sudden braking.

Automatic belt locking also occurs during rapid acceleration or deceleration, when driving uphill, and on sharp turns.

Fastening the Seat Belts: Route the belt across the chest and lap as shown in the illustration. Insert the tongue into the buckle of your seat until it clicks. Pull lightly on the belt to check that it is securely fastened.

The diagonal portion of the seat belt must pass across the middle of the shoulder, never across the neck, and fit snugly against the body.

On the front seats, the belt height adjuster and seat adjustments can be used to fit the belt to the body. The lap portion of the belt must always fit snugly across the hips.

When adjusting the front seatbacks, do not recline them far back, as this reduces the protective function of the seat belts.

Releasing the Seat Belts: Press the orange button on the buckle with your finger. The latch will open and the tongue will be ejected by the spring.

Hold the belt lightly and guide it back; it will retract automatically.

Position the anchor fitting with tongue in a convenient location for grasping by hand for the next fastening.

Seat Belt Height Adjuster: Used to optimally fit the belt to the occupant's height. Adjust the height by moving the clip up or down, as shown in the illustration, so that the belt passes across the middle of the shoulder and not across the neck. After selecting the correct height, pull lightly to check that the adjuster clip is securely locked.

Rear Seat Lap Belt: The buckle operates on the same principle as the diagonal-lap belt.

The lap belt must always fit snugly across the lower part of the body.
