System Readiness Check

System Readiness Check
Self-Diagnosis Mode. After switching on the ignition, with the engine off or while driving at a speed of no more than 5 km/h, briefly press the button indicated by the arrow in the figure. The warning lamps of the "Auto-Check System" will light up on the display one after another.
The same button is used to adjust the brightness of the instrument panel illumination.

The first indication is "BREMSLICHT" (Brake Light), which goes out immediately after the brake pedal is pressed.
On some vehicle versions, a symbol is displayed on the screen instead of this message:
If there are no faults in the monitored vehicle systems, the message "OK" (All OK) will appear on the display.
If the word "BREMSLICHT" (Brake Light) remains on the display and does not go out, check the following:
- brake light bulbs - fuses - brake light switches - wiring of this circuit.
If the message "BREMSLICHT" disappears after the brake pedal is pressed, but neither "OK" nor a fault symbol for any function appears instead, check the automatic monitoring system itself for proper operation.
When a fault is detected, an audible signal sounds and one of the following symbols is displayed:
Brake System Fault
This warning lamp illuminates when the brake fluid level is critically low.
If, in addition, the brake pedal has an unusual free travel, one of the brake circuits may have failed. In this case, you may carefully continue driving under your own power to the nearest service station, taking into account that greater physical effort on the brake pedal is required and that the braking distance of the vehicle will increase.
Oil Pressure
If this symbol appears, stop the vehicle immediately, switch off the engine, check the engine oil level and top up if necessary.
If the symbol does not go out after this, do not continue driving. The engine must not run, even at idle. Specialist assistance is required.
Remember that this is the engine oil pressure symbol, not an oil level indicator.
Coolant Temperature / Level
If this symbol is displayed on the screen while driving, it means one of two things:
- the coolant temperature is too high - the coolant level is critically low.
coolant level
Stop immediately, switch off the engine and check the coolant level.
When the engine is hot, the coolant in the cooling system is under pressure. Therefore, before removing the expansion tank cap, wait a while for the engine to cool down. Do not touch the electric cooling fan! It may switch on at any time, even with the ignition switched off.
If the symbol remains lit and the coolant level is normal, do not continue driving.
Specialist assistance is required.
If the suspected cause is the cooling fan, the coolant level is normal, and the temperature warning lamp has gone out, you may continue driving under your own power to the nearest service station. However, since the radiator requires airflow for cooling, drive at a higher speed and avoid running the engine at idle.
Low beam or reverse light malfunction
A possible malfunction of:
- bulbs - fuses - wiring
Check, replace or repair.
Battery voltage is not within normal range
Contact a service station and check the drive belt tension or the condition of the battery.
Washer fluid reservoir level
Add water to the reservoir.
Fuel reserve
The fuel in the fuel tank is running low. See the section "Refueling".
