Gasoline engines: 1 Ignition/engine off. The steering wheel may be locked with the lock 2 Ignition on 3 Engine start

Diesel engines: 1 Fuel supply stopped, engine off. The steering wheel may be locked with the lock 2 Glow plugs on, operating position while the vehicle is moving 3 Engine start

Features common to all vehicles: Position 1

Used to lock the steering column lock. To do this, remove the key from the ignition lock and turn the steering wheel until the latch clicks.

If you forget to switch off the lights or radio after removing the key from the ignition lock, a warning buzzer will remind you as soon as you open the door.

Remove the key from the ignition lock only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop; otherwise the steering wheel may lock while driving.

Position 2. If the key does not turn to this position or turns with difficulty, turn the steering wheel in different directions. The steering lock will be released and the key will turn easily.

Position 3. In this position the low beam headlights switch to parking lights, and all major electrical consumers are switched off: windshield wipers, blower fan, rear window defroster.

Each time the engine is restarted, the ignition key must return to position 1. To prevent starter damage, a special safety device blocks its simultaneous operation with the running engine.
