Remote View 3D

The car wash view in the BMW 5 Series (VII generation) provides a special camera setting for tight maneuvers in car washes. An optimized perspective makes the vehicle's position on the conveyor visible, which makes precise steering easier. The view is activated automatically at low speed when the surroundings are being monitored directly. The function is particularly helpful in car washes with mirror brushes, to avoid contact with side trim or brushes. Combined with Park Distance Control and the graphic display on the screen, it provides a complete picture of the vehicle's surroundings, for maximum control and gentle entry into the car wash.

Principle

Using the BMW Connected App and the images from the Surround View cameras, the vehicle's surroundings can be displayed on a mobile device, e.g. a smartphone.

The function shows a snapshot of the situation.

Prerequisites for operation

• Data transmission must be enabled.
• The BMW Connected App must be installed on the mobile device.

Switch function on/off

Via iDrive:

1. 1
   With ignition on: "My Vehicle"
2. 2
   "iDrive settings"
3. 3
   "Data protection"
4. 4
   "Remote View 3D"

Functional restrictions

The function cannot be used, or can only be used to a limited extent, for example in the following situations:

• In poor lighting conditions.
• When the cameras are dirty.
• When a door or the tailgate is open.

Dark areas in the display indicate areas that are not captured by the system.

When the exterior mirrors are folded in.

While other camera functions are being performed in the vehicle.

When the vehicle is moving faster than walking pace.

The function may not be available in all countries.

For data protection reasons, the function can only be performed three times within two hours.

Remote View 3D of the BMW 5 Series G30/G31 allows the vehicle's surroundings to be viewed on a smartphone via the BMW Connected App. The function creates snapshots from the camera images of the Surround View system, providing additional safety and convenience even when you are not in the vehicle.

This is particularly practical for checking the parking space or the vehicle's surroundings before getting in. Data protection is taken into account: the function is limited in time and frequency and requires active enabling of data transmission in the vehicle.

In this way, the BMW 5 Series G30/G31 shows how digital connectivity makes everyday life easier while maintaining the highest safety and data protection standards.
