Engine oil level indicator. Service interval indicator. Odometer. Fuel gauge
This chapter gives a comprehensive overview of the engine oil level, service interval and odometer displays in the Citroën C6. From the meaning of the "OIL" indicator to handling service intervals and resetting after service, everything is explained clearly. Particularly important: a low oil level or missed servicing can cause serious engine damage. The step-by-step instructions make everyday use easier. The fuel gauge is also covered in detail, including the warning for low fuel. A practical tool for keeping the vehicle in optimum condition at all times.
Engine oil level indicator

This indicator shows normal operation.

A flashing "OIL" indicator means that the oil level is below the minimum level.
Check with the dipstick.
See "Capacities".
Check the engine oil level on level ground at least 30 minutes after switching off the engine.
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

A flashing "OIL - -" indicator means that the indicator is malfunctioning.
Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
An incorrect oil level can seriously damage the engine. See "Capacities".
Service interval indicator
According to the maintenance schedule in the service booklet, this shows the next service due.
This information is determined by two parameters: the distance driven since the last service and the time elapsed.
Function
When the ignition is switched on, the service key lights up for a few seconds; the instrument display shows the distance remaining before the next service.
Example: Remaining before the next service:

After a few seconds the engine oil level indicator appears, then the odometer returns to normal operation. The instrument display shows the trip odometer and the total odometer.

Operation when the next service is due in less than 1,000 km
Each time the ignition is switched on, the key and the mileage flash for 5 seconds.
Example: Remaining until the next service: 500 km. When the ignition is switched on, for 5 seconds the instrument display shows:

After a few seconds the engine oil level indicator is displayed, then the odometer returns to normal operation and the service key remains lit.
This indicates that service is due shortly.
The instrument display shows the trip odometer and the total odometer.

Operation when the service interval has been exceeded
Each time the ignition is switched on, the service key and the distance driven beyond the specified service interval flash (with a minus sign in front).
Example: The service interval has been exceeded by 300 km.
The vehicle must be serviced as soon as possible.

A few seconds after switching on the ignition, the odometer returns to normal operation and the service key remains lit.

Service interval
When the vehicle is used under severe conditions, the "severe conditions" maintenance schedule with shorter service intervals must be applied. See "Service booklet".

Resetting to zero
After each service, the service indicator is reset to zero by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop. However, if you carry out the service yourself, use the following procedure to reset it:
- Switch off the ignition.
- Press and hold button A.
- Switch on the ignition.
- Keep button A pressed until the display shows "=0" and the service key goes out.
Note: If the maximum distance between two oil changes is reached before the interval in km has expired, the service key comes on and the instrument display shows "0".
Odometer
Display

When the driver's door is opened, or unlocked with the remote control, the odometers and, if applicable, the service key are displayed for about 30 seconds.

Resetting the trip odometer
Works with the ignition switched on.
Press and hold button A to reset: the displayed trip odometer is reset to zero.

Fuel gauge
As soon as the low fuel warning lamp lights up permanently, together with an audible signal, on level ground, approximately 8 l of fuel remain in the tank.
When the second-to-last segment goes out, approximately 5 l remain in the tank.
The engine oil level indicator and service interval indicator of the Citroën C6 keep the driver informed about the vehicle's condition at all times. Oil level, upcoming service or mileage: all information is clearly displayed and easy to read.
The simple reset after servicing is particularly convenient. In this way the Citroën C6 underlines its commitment to ease of use and durability. Regularly checking these indicators contributes significantly to the reliability and value retention of the vehicle.
