Lighting system
The lighting system includes: headlights, tail lights, brake lights, reversing lights, turn signals, rear fog lights, license plate lights and interior lights.
Instrument lighting is covered in the chapter "Instrument panel".
Bulbs wear out over time. They should therefore be replaced approximately every 2 years, even if they are still intact. This does not apply to halogen bulbs, such as those used in the headlights.
They normally last considerably longer and only need to be replaced in the event of a fault. A bulb with reduced brightness can also be recognized by black deposits on the glass bulb.
Before replacing a bulb, switch off the switch of the relevant consumer. Caution: do not touch the glass bulb with bare fingers. Fingerprints would evaporate and, due to the heat, deposit on the reflector and make it cloudy.
Always replace a bulb only with the same type. Remove any accidental fingerprints with a clean, lint-free cloth and alcohol.
