Heating
For heating, fresh air is drawn in from outside below the windscreen and forced into the vehicle interior via blower - 8 -. The air flows through heater housing - 1 - and is distributed to the individual air outlet nozzles via various flaps. The air distribution flaps are operated by Bowden cables. Depending on equipment, a pollen filter may be fitted at the fresh air intake. The heater can be switched to recirculation mode. In this case, air is drawn from the vehicle interior and heated.
As soon as the heater is set to "warm", the warm air flap opens and directs the cool air over heat exchanger - 7 -. The heat exchanger is located in the heater housing and is heated by hot coolant.
The passing fresh air is warmed by the hot fins of the heat exchanger and then enters the vehicle interior. The warm air flap is operated by warm air control - 3 - via a Bowden cable.
A four-speed heater blower increases heating output.
So that the blower runs at different speeds in the individual stages, resistors - 9 - are connected in series. If a resistor fails, the motor will not run at the corresponding speed stage. Other components:

4 - Blower switch
5 - Slide lever for recirculation flap
6 - Rotary control for air distribution
