Steering
The steering consists of the steering wheel, the steering column, the steering gear and the steering linkage. The steering wheel is screwed onto the steering column, which transmits the steering movements through the steering gear and the steering linkage to the wheels.
Steering effort is reduced by a hydraulic power steering system. The hydraulic power steering (power assist) keeps the effort required when turning the steering wheel low.
The power steering system consists of the power steering pump, the reservoir and the hydraulic pressure lines. The pump is driven by a V-ribbed belt. The pump draws hydraulic fluid from the reservoir and delivers it at high pressure to the steering gear. There, a control unit provides the required steering assistance.
Warning: Always replace self-locking nuts.
Welding and straightening work on steering components is not permitted.
