Maintenance must be carried out at least once a year.

If more than 20,000 km have been driven in this period, maintenance must be carried out already after this mileage. The first maintenance is due after 20,000 km. On models with diesel engines, the engine oil must additionally be changed every 10,000 km and the fuel filter drained every 5,000 km. Under severe operating conditions, such as predominantly city and short-distance driving, frequent mountain driving, towing a trailer or dusty road conditions, carry out maintenance more often accordingly. Every 500 kilometers or before long trips, the following fluid levels should be checked: engine oil, coolant and brake fluid level. In addition, check the tire inflation pressure.

Engine

  • Engine oil: change, replace oil filter. Diesel engine every 10,000 km.

  • Engine: visual check for oil leaks.

  • Cooling and heating system: check fluid level, check antifreeze concentration. Visual check for leaks and external contamination of the radiator.

  • Exhaust system: check for damage.

  • Perform exhaust test (idle speed, check emission control, read fault memory) - workshop work.

  • Drive belt: check tension and condition.

  • Fuel filter, diesel engine only: replace.

  • Air filter, diesel engine only: replace filter element (more often in heavy dust).

Transmission, clutch, final drive

  • Constant velocity joint boots: check for secure fit, leaks and damage.

  • Manual and automatic transmission: visually check for leaks.

Front axle and steering

  • Tie rod ends: check play and attachment, check dust caps.

  • Ball joints: check dust caps.

  • Steering: check play, check bellows for leaks and damage.

  • Power steering: check fluid level.

Brakes, tires, wheels

  • Brake system: check lines, hoses, wheel brake cylinders and connections for leaks and damage. Check brake fluid level, top up if necessary.

  • Brake pads: check wear of the front disc brake pads, replace pads if necessary.

  • Tires: check tread depth and tire inflation pressure; check tires for wear and damage (including the spare tire). If wear is abnormal, have the wheel alignment checked (workshop work).

  • Wheel bolts: retighten to torque 90 N·m.

Electrical system

  • All electrical consumers: check function.

  • Lighting system: check, adjust headlights if necessary.

  • Horn: check.

  • Windshield wipers: check wiper blades for wear.

  • Windshield washer system: check function, check nozzle alignment, top up fluid.

  • Battery: check electrolyte level.

Body, interior

  • Hood: check latch and safety catch for function and lubricate.

  • Underbody protection and paint: inspect, touch up damaged areas.

  • Air filter: replace filter element.

  • Seat belts: check for damage.

Also carry out the following work:

Diesel engine: every 5,000 km

  • Fuel filter: drain water.

Additionally every 40,000 km

  • Air filter, petrol engines: replace filter element (more often in dusty conditions).

  • 2.0 l engine: rear disc brake pads: check condition and wear.

  • Fuel filter, petrol engines: replace.

  • Fuel filter, petrol engines: replace.

  • V-ribbed belt: check condition.

  • Diesel engine: check valve clearance.

  • Clutch play: check (except on 2.0 l engine with hydraulic clutch actuation).

  • Automatic transmission: change oil.

Additionally every 60,000 km

  • Rear brake drum linings: check condition and wear.

  • Petrol engine: evaporative emission control (charcoal canister) system: visually inspect lines.

  • Manual transmission and differential: check oil level, top up if necessary.

    Top up.

  • Engine coolant: replace.

Additionally every 100,000 km

  • Crankcase ventilation: visually inspect hoses at air filter and engine block.

Every 120,000 km

  • Manual transmission and differential: change oil.

  • Engine timing belt: replace.

Every 2 years

  • Brake fluid: replace.

  • 2.0 l engine: replace hydraulic clutch fluid.
