Exhaust system
In this manual: Exhaust system
~1min read
The exhaust system consists of the catalytic converter, the front exhaust pipe with the centre silencer and the rear silencer.
The lambda sensor (petrol engines only), required for catalytic converter control, is screwed in upstream of the catalytic converter.
The front exhaust pipe is bolted to the exhaust manifold or, on turbo diesel engines, to the turbocharger.
Individual parts can be replaced during repair. Nuts and gaskets must always be replaced after removal. Retaining rings and rubber mounts must be checked for porosity and damage and replaced if necessary.
