Front Axle

~1min read

The front axle uses 2 MacPherson struts -1-, each consisting of a coil spring and an integrated hydraulic shock absorber. The struts are bolted to the body and the steering knuckles -2-.

Lateral guidance is provided by control arms -3-, which are connected to each steering knuckle by a ball joint. The control arms are bolted to the front subframe -4- via rubber mounts.

An anti-roll bar -5- connects the two control arms via two rubber mounts. The anti-roll bar is also fastened to the front axle subframe by rubber mounts. The anti-roll bar reduces body roll when cornering.

Drive power from the front engine is transmitted to the front wheels via two driveshafts, each with two constant velocity joints.

The front wheel bearings cannot be disassembled and must be completely replaced after each removal.
