Caring for Upholstery
Fabric upholstery: vacuum the upholstery or brush it out with a not-too-soft brush. For heavy soiling, clean fabric upholstery with dry-foam cleaner.
Treat grease and oil stains with cleaning benzine or stain remover. Do not pour the cleaning agent directly onto the fabric, as this will inevitably leave rings. Work the stain from the outside toward the center using circular rubbing motions. Other soiling can usually be removed with lukewarm soapy water.
Leather upholstery: cover the seats when exposed to strong sunlight and during long periods of parking to prevent fading.
Dampen a jersey or wool cloth slightly with water and clean the leather surfaces without saturating the leather or the seams. Then rub the dried leather with a clean, soft cloth.
Heavily soiled leather surfaces can be cleaned with a mild fine-fabric detergent without optical brighteners (2 tablespoons per 1 liter of water). Dab grease and oil stains carefully with cleaning benzine, without rubbing.
After cleaning, the leather upholstery (coated leather) should be treated with a commercially available leather care product. Such products are available from specialist workshops and automotive parts retailers. Shake the product well before use and apply a thin coat with a soft cloth. After it has dried, rub it with a clean, soft cloth. This treatment is recommended every 6 months under normal use.
