Underbody protection / cavity preservation
The entire floor assembly, including the rear wheel arches, is coated with underbody protection. The particularly vulnerable areas in the front wheel arches are protected against stone chips by plastic shields. In addition, body parts prone to corrosion are made of galvanized sheet steel. Before the cold season and after an underbody wash, check the underbody protection and re-treat it if necessary.
Dust, clay and sand can accumulate in the spray area of the underbody. Removing accumulated dirt, which in winter may also be contaminated with salt, is particularly important.
Preserving the engine compartment: To prevent corrosion on the front end (e.g. side panels, longitudinal members or bulkhead panel) and on the drive unit, spray the engine compartment, including the brake system components located in it as well as the front axle components and steering, with a high-quality preservative wax. This is especially important after engine washing.
Caution: Before washing the engine, which can be done for example with cold cleaner and a steam jet cleaner, cover the alternator, fuse box and brake fluid reservoir with plastic covers.
