Washing the vehicle
For environmental reasons, washing vehicles on public areas is prohibited in most municipalities. Many filling stations now offer the option of washing your vehicle by hand. Since these filling stations guarantee that waste water does not seep into the ground, vehicles should be washed there.
Wash a dirty vehicle as soon as possible.
Soak dead insects before washing the vehicle, then rinse them off.
Use plenty of water.
Use a soft sponge or a very soft wash brush with a hose connection.
Do not spray the paint directly with high pressure; only rinse it and let the dirt soften.
Wash off softened dirt from top to bottom with plenty of water.
Rinse the sponge frequently.
Use a clean chamois to dry.
Use only good, grease-replenishing branded car shampoos (if at all). Rinse thoroughly with clear water to remove all traces of shampoo.
To protect the paint, a wash protectant can be added to the wash water.
If shampoos are used regularly, the paint must be protected more often.
Never wash or dry the vehicle in the sun.
Otherwise water spots on the paint are unavoidable.
Road salt particularly endangers all internal folds, flanges and joints on doors and hoods.
For this reason, these areas must be thoroughly cleaned with a sponge every time the vehicle is washed, including after washing in automatic car washes, then rinsed and dried with a chamois.
