Fan Control Module Replacement

PROCEDURE


The procedures described below apply equally to both fans.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

If the installed radio is equipped with an anti-theft code, before disconnecting the battery make sure you have the correct code to activate the audio system!
2. Apply the parking brake and chock the rear wheels. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jack stands. If equipped, remove the radiator lower splash shield.
3. Insert a small screwdriver into the connector, release the locking tab and disconnect the fan wiring.

On models equipped with speed control, release the thermostat control cable from the two plastic clips on top of the fan shrouds.

4. On the air conditioning fan assembly, remove the lower mounting bolt.

5. Unbolt the fan from the upper part of the radiator.

6. Carefully remove the fan from the engine compartment.

If equipped, move the thermostat control cable released from the clips aside.

7. To remove the blade from the motor shaft, remove the center nut.

8. To remove the drive motor from the fan shroud, remove the mounting screws.

9. Installation is the reverse of removal.
