Removal and Installation of Heater and Air Conditioning Control Panel, Cable Adjustment
PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
If the vehicle is equipped with an audio system with a security code, make sure you have the correct code to activate the audio system before disconnecting the battery!
2. The control panel is attached to the rear of the instrument panel bezel. For bezel removal, refer to the Body chapter.
3. Separate the instrument panel bezel and move it away from the instrument panel far enough to disconnect the two connectors from the rear of the heater/A/C control panel.

4. Remove the mounting screws and separate the control panel from the instrument panel bezel.
5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Cable Adjustment
PROCEDURE
1. Hot coolant flow to the heater core is controlled by a valve located on the rear bulkhead (engine side). The valve is operated by a metal cable connected to the air mix control lever on the heater/A/C control panel.

2. In the engine compartment, release the cable from the retainer on the valve assembly.

3. In the passenger compartment, release the clip and remove the cable loop from the hook of the air mix control lever.
4. Turn the ignition on and move the air mix control lever to the MAX COOL position. Connect the cable loop to the lever. Press the cable housing against the stop and snap the clip into place.
5. In the engine compartment, pull the heater core valve lever toward the bulkhead until it stops. Connect the cable end to the lever and snap the cable housing into the retainer.
