Throttle Body Removal and Installation

~1min read

PROCEDURE

Allow the engine to cool completely before starting these procedures!
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

If the vehicle's stereo system is equipped with an anti-theft code, make sure you have the correct code to reactivate the unit before disconnecting the battery!
2. Remove the air duct connecting the air cleaner to the throttle body.
3. Disconnect the throttle position sensor (TPS) wiring from the throttle body (see Engine Controls chapter). Label and disconnect the vacuum hoses from the throttle body.
4. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever (see section Accelerator Cable Removal, Installation and Adjustment) and, if equipped, the kick-down cable from the throttle body.
5. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body. Immediately plug the open hose ends to minimize coolant loss.
6. Remove the 4 mounting nuts, separate the throttle body from the intake manifold and remove the gasket. Carefully scrape all traces of the old gasket from the mating surfaces of the throttle body and the intake air chamber.

7. Установка производится в обратном порядке. Не забудьте заменить уплотнительную

7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to replace the gasket. Tighten the throttle body fasteners to the specified torque. Finally, adjust the accelerator cable (see section Accelerator Cable Removal, Installation and Adjustment). Check the coolant level and top up if necessary (see Maintenance and Tune-Up chapter).
