MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP
The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), which is part of the self-diagnosis system, illuminates to warn the driver of a malfunction in the vehicle's systems. However, if the abnormal signal returns to normal (the malfunction has self-cleared), the MIL will go off automatically after 3 consecutive driving cycles in which the malfunction does not reappear. The lamp illuminates immediately after the ignition is turned ON (key to the "ON" position) to show that the lamp itself is functioning normally. (Refer to the FUEL SYSTEM section.)
