MANUAL TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM - COMPONENTS

REMOVAL

1. Remove the center console assembly (Refer to the

appropriate section in Section BD - "Body").

2. Remove the cotter pins and retainers of the shift cables on the shift lever side.

3. Remove the shift lever assembly.

4. Remove the bolts and the shift cable intermediate bracket from the engine compartment partition.

5. Remove the cotter pins and retainers of the shift cables (transmission side).

6. Remove the select cable and shift cable.

INSPECTION

1. Check the select cable for proper operation and damage.

2. Check the shift cable for proper operation and damage.

3. Check the transaxle control cable boots for damage.

4. Check each bushing for wear, abrasion, seizure, sticking, or damage.

5. Check the spring for wear or damage.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the shift lever assembly.

2. Install the select cable and the shift cable.
