| DTC P0743, P0740: Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Valve and Circuit | Possible Cause |
| If the resistance of the torque converter clutch solenoid valve is outside the specified range (too low or too high), a short or open circuit in the solenoid valve circuit is likely to have occurred, and DTC P0743 is stored in the ECU memory. If the duty ratio of the torque converter clutch solenoid valve is 100% for 4 seconds or longer, the torque converter clutch control system is considered to be malfunctioning, and DTC P0740 is stored in the ECU memory. When DTC P0743 occurs, the transaxle enters fail-safe mode (shift control disabled) and is fixed in 3rd gear. If the torque converter clutch remains engaged for 10 seconds when the automatic transaxle ECU attempts to disengage it, the torque converter clutch is considered to be stuck, and DTC P0740 is stored in the ECU memory. |
