Installing an ISOFIX child seat
This section on installing ISOFIX child seats shows how simple and secure installation is in the Kia Opirus (2003–2012). It is essential to use only the designated anchorage points on the outer rear seats. An additional tether strap on the parcel shelf increases stability. The detailed warnings help avoid common installation errors and ensure the highest level of protection for infants and small children in road traffic.
1. Slide the attachment hooks on the child seat onto the anchorages under the rear seatback, and make sure the attachment hooks click into place audibly.
2. Additionally secure the top of the child seat with the corresponding tether strap to the matching anchorage point on the parcel shelf, and tighten the strap to secure the child seat (see also the section "Securing a child seat with a child seat tether strap" in this chapter).
WARNING- Never try to install a child seat with ISOFIX anchorages on the center rear seat. Only the outer rear seats are equipped with ISOFIX anchorages. If a child seat with ISOFIX anchorages is installed incorrectly, serious or fatal injuries may result in a collision.
- Do not attach more than one seat at a time to either the upper or the lower ISOFIX anchorage points. Excessive loading could overstress the ISOFIX anchorage points and cause them to break. This could result in serious or fatal injuries in an accident.
- Secure child seats with the ISOFIX system only at the designated anchorage points shown in the illustration.
- Always follow the instructions in this owner's manual and the user instructions of the respective child seat manufacturer.
