Immobilizer

The system is designed to protect against unauthorized entry into the vehicle. The system has three operating modes: armed, alarm, and disarmed. When triggered, the system sounds an audible alarm and flashes the hazard lights.
Armed mode
Park the vehicle and turn off the engine. Arm the system as follows.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch and exit the vehicle.
- Make sure that all doors (and the liftgate) and the hood are closed and latched.
- - Lock the doors by pressing the lock button on the transmitter (or smart key).
After these steps, the hazard lights flash once, indicating that the system is armed.
If any door, the trunk, or the hood remains open, the hazard lights will not flash and the immobilizer will not arm. If all doors, the trunk, and the hood are closed afterward, the hazard lights will flash once.- Lock the doors by pressing the button on the outside front door handle while carrying the SmartKey. Once these steps are completed, the hazard lights will flash once to indicate that the system is armed.
If a door remains open, the hazard lights will not flash and the immobilizer will not arm. Close the door and lock it again.
If the liftgate or the hood is open, the hazard lights will not flash and the immobilizer will not arm. Close the liftgate or the hood. The hazard lights will flash once and the immobilizer will arm.NOTICE
Arming the immobilizer with the key can be enabled by an authorized Kia dealer. Consult an authorized Kia dealer if you want this option.
Do not arm the system until all passengers have exited the vehicle. If the system is armed while someone remains inside the vehicle, the immobilizer may activate when that person exits the vehicle.
If a door (or the liftgate) or the hood is opened within 30 seconds after the system is armed, the system will disarm to prevent a false alarm.
Alarm mode
The alarm will be triggered if one of the following conditions occurs while the system is armed.
- A front or rear door is opened without using the transmitter (or smart key).
- The liftgate is opened without using the transmitter (or smart key).
- The hood is open.
The horn sounds and the hazard lights flash continuously for approximately 27 seconds. To turn off the system, unlock the doors with the transmitter (or smart key).

The system will be disarmed when:
