Enregistrement de votre numéro de clés

Recording your key code number

The key code is stamped on the bar code label attached to the key set. If you lose your keys, this code will allow an authorized Kia dealer to make a duplicate key.

Remove the bar code label and store it in a safe place. Also write down the code number and keep it in a safe place, but not in the vehicle.

Fonctionnement des clés

Key operation

Type A

Used to start the engine and to lock and unlock the doors.

Type B

The keys are used to start the engine and to lock and unlock the doors.

To remove the mechanical key, press and hold the button, then pull out the mechanical key.

To reinsert the mechanical key, place the key into the slot and push it in until you hear a click.

WARNING - Ignition key

Leaving children unattended in a vehicle with the ignition key is dangerous, even if the key is not in the ignition switch. Children imitate adults and may place the key in the ignition.

The ignition key allows children to operate power windows and other controls, and even to set the vehicle in motion, which could cause serious or fatal injury. Never leave the keys in the vehicle if children are left unattended in it.

WARNING

Use only genuine Kia parts for the ignition keys of your vehicle. If you use an aftermarket key, it may not return to ON after being turned to START.

In this case, the starter remains engaged, which can damage the engine and may cause a fire due to the excessive current applied to the wiring.

Immobilizer system (if equipped)

Your vehicle is equipped with an electronic immobilizer that reduces the risk of unauthorized use of the vehicle.

The electronic immobilizer consists of a small transponder in the ignition key and electronic devices in the vehicle.

Each time you insert the ignition key into the switch and turn it to ON, the electronic immobilizer checks the ignition key to ensure it is valid.

If the key is valid, the engine will start.

If the key is not valid, the engine will not start.

To activate the immobilizer system: Turn the ignition key to OFF.

The immobilizer system activates automatically. Without a valid ignition key, the engine will not start.

To deactivate the immobilizer system: Insert the ignition key into the cylinder and turn it to ON.

WARNING

To prevent your vehicle from being stolen, do not leave your spare keys in the vehicle. The electronic immobilizer code is unique to each customer and should be kept secret. Do not leave any record of this code in your vehicle.

NOTICE

When starting the engine, do not keep the key together with other keys that have an immobilizer nearby, or the engine may not start or may stall shortly after starting. Keep each key separate to avoid starting problems.

CAUTION

Do not place any metal objects near the ignition switch.

The engine may not start if a metal accessory prevents the transceiver from transmitting its signal normally.

NOTICE

If you need additional keys or if you lose your keys, contact an authorized Kia dealer.

CAUTION

The transponder in the ignition key is an important part of the immobilizer system. It is designed to give you years of trouble-free service.

However, you should avoid exposing it to moisture, static electricity, and rough handling. The immobilizer system could fail.

CAUTION

Do not change, modify, or adjust the immobilizer system, as this could cause it to malfunction. The system should only be serviced by an authorized Kia dealer.

Malfunctions caused by improper modification or adjustment of the immobilizer system are not covered by the vehicle manufacturer's warranty.

Emergency procedure (override)

If you turn the ignition key to ON and the immobilizer indicator (s'éteint après avoir clignoté 5 fois, il y a)
turns off after flashing 5 times, there is a problem with the transponder in the ignition key. You will not be able to start the engine without the emergency procedure. To start the engine, you must enter your code using the ignition switch.

The following example shows how to enter the code " 2345 ".

  1. Turn the ignition key to ON. The immobilizer indicator (clignotera 5 fois et s'éteindra, indiquant)
will flash 5 times and turn off, indicating the start of the emergency procedure.
  2. Return the ignition key to the ACC position.
  3. To enter the first digit ("2" in the example), turn the ignition key to ON and ACC twice. Repeat this for the following digits within 3 to 10 seconds of each other (for example, for the digit "3", turn the ignition key to ON and ACC three times).
  4. If all digits of the code have been entered correctly, you will be able to start the engine within 30 seconds. If you try to start the engine after 30 seconds, the engine will not start and you will have to enter the code again.

After using the emergency procedure, you should go immediately to an authorized Kia dealer to have the ignition key or the immobilizer system inspected and repaired.
