Windshield Wiper

They operate as follows when the ignition switch is in ON: MIST: For a single cycle, push the lever up and release it.

The wipers will continue to operate if you hold the lever up.

OFF: The wipers do not operate.

INT: The wipers operate intermittently at regular intervals. Use this mode in light rain or drizzle. To change the speed, turn the control knob (1).

In this position, the wiping interval also changes automatically according to vehicle speed. (if equipped) LO: Normal wiper speed.

HI: High wiper speed.

NOTICE

If the windshield is covered with snow or ice, defrost the windshield for about ten minutes or until the snow and ice have melted before operating the wipers.

Otherwise, they may not operate properly.

Commande automatique (si équipé)

Automatic control (if equipped)

The rain sensor located on the upper end of the windshield detects the amount of rainfall and controls the appropriate wiping intervals. The more it rains, the faster the wiping. When the rain stops, the wipers stop.

To change the sensitivity setting, turn the sensitivity control knob (1).

If the wiper switch is set to AUTO while the ignition switch is in ON, the wipers will operate once to self-check the system. Set the wipers to "OFF" when they are not in use.

CAUTION

When the ignition switch is in ON and the wiper switch is in AUTO mode, be careful in the following situations to avoid injury to your hands or other body parts:

  • Do not touch the upper portion of the windshield facing the rain sensor.
  • Do not wipe the upper portion of the windshield with a wet or dry cloth.
  • Do not apply pressure to the windshield.
CAUTION

Before washing the vehicle, set the wiper switch to OFF to turn the function off.

The wipers may operate and become damaged if the switch is set to AUTO mode.

Do not remove the sensor cover located on the upper passenger-side windshield, to avoid damage to the system that may not be covered by the vehicle warranty.

When starting the vehicle in winter, set the wiper switch to OFF to prevent the wipers from operating and the blades from being damaged.

Always remove snow and ice and properly defrost the windshield before operating the wipers.

Lave-glace

Washer system

With the lever in the neutral position, pull it slightly toward you to spray washer fluid onto the windshield and operate the wipers for 1 to 3 cycles.

Use this function when the windshield is dirty.

Washer spray and wiper operation continue as long as you hold the lever.

If the washer system does not work, check the fluid level. If there is not enough fluid, fill the reservoir with a non-abrasive windshield washer fluid.

The washer fluid reservoir filler neck is located at the front of the engine compartment, on the passenger side.

CAUTION

To avoid damaging the washer pump, do not operate the washer when the reservoir is empty.

WARNING

Do not use the washer in cold weather without first warming the windshield with the defroster. The washer fluid could freeze on contact with the windshield and obstruct your view.

CAUTION
  • To avoid damaging the wiper blades and the windshield, do not operate the wipers when the windshield is dry.
  • To avoid damaging the wiper blades, do not expose them to gasoline, kerosene, paint thinner, or other solvents.
  • To avoid damaging the wiper arm and other components, do not attempt to move the wipers by hand.
