Checking tire inflation pressure
Check the tires at least once a month.
Also measure the spare tire pressure.
Checking method Use a good-quality pressure gauge to check tire inflation pressure. You cannot tell whether tires are properly inflated simply by looking at them. Radial tires, for example, may appear fully inflated even when they are not.
Measure the inflation pressure when the tires are cold. - "Cold" tires means the vehicle has been parked for at least three hours or has not been driven more than 1.6 km.
Remove the tire valve cap. Take the measurement by pressing the gauge firmly onto the valve. If the cold inflation pressure matches the value shown on the tire label, no further adjustment is necessary. If it is low, add air until the specified value is reached.
If it is, on the other hand, too high, release air by pressing the metal pin in the center of the valve.
Repeat the pressure check with the gauge. Remember to refit the valve caps.
They prevent leaks by keeping out dirt and moisture.
WARNING
- Check tire pressure and condition regularly.
Always use a pressure gauge to check the pressure.
Replace tires that are excessively or abnormally worn, or that are damaged.
