Wheel replacement

~1min read

When replacing steel wheels for any reason, make sure the new wheels are equivalent to the original wheels in diameter, rim width and offset.

WARNING A wheel of incorrect size may adversely affect bearing and wheel life, braking and stopping performance, handling characteristics, ground clearance, clearance between wheel and body, space available for snow chains, headlight aim, speedometer and odometer calibration and bumper height.

Tyre traction Tyre wear, incorrect inflation or driving on slippery surfaces can compromise the vehicle's traction. Replace tyres when the tread wear indicators appear. To reduce the risk of losing control, always slow down when there is rain, snow or ice on the road.

Tyre maintenance Tyre wear can be reduced not only by keeping the inflation pressure at the specified values but also by having the wheel alignment correctly set. If you notice uneven wear on a tyre, have the wheel alignment checked by your dealer.

When fitting new tyres, make sure they are balanced. Balancing will increase driving comfort and tyre life. Repeat the balancing also when the tyre is removed from the wheel.
