Tire Types
WARNING
- When replacing or changing your vehicle's tires, make sure all four tires are of the same type (for example, summer tires, all-season tires or winter tires) and the same construction. A NISSAN dealer can provide information on the type, size, speed rating and availability of the various tires.
- Replacement tires may have a lower speed rating than the factory-installed tires and, as a result, may not be able to match your vehicle's maximum speed. Never exceed the speed rating of a tire.
- For more information about tires, refer to the "Important Tire Safety Information (U.S.)" or "Tire Safety Information (Canada)" section of the Warranty Information Booklet.
ALL SEASON tires
Some NISSAN vehicle models are equipped with all-season tires. These tires provide good performance throughout the year, even on snowy or icy roads. The words ALL SEASON or the letters "M+S" on the sidewall of the tire identify this type of tire. Winter tires offer better traction in snow than all-season tires and may be better suited to the climate of some regions.
Summer tires
Some NISSAN vehicle models are equipped with summer tires. These offer superior performance on dry roads. Snow and ice considerably reduce the performance of summer tires. The M+S traction marking does not appear on the sidewall of summer tires.
If you have a four-wheel-drive vehicle, NISSAN recommends using SNOW tires or tires marked ALL SEASON if you must drive on snowy or icy roads.
Winter tyres
If you install winter tires on your vehicle, make sure their size and maximum load capacity are the same as the original tires. Otherwise, the safety characteristics and handling of your vehicle could be compromised.
Winter tires generally have a speed rating lower than that of the factory-installed tires and may not be able to match the maximum speed your vehicle can reach.
Never exceed the speed rating of a tire.
If you install winter tires on your vehicle, the size, brand, construction and tread pattern must be identical on all four tires.
Studded tires may be used to gain increased traction on icy roads. However, the use of such tires is prohibited in some U.S. states as well as in some Canadian provinces.
Check the regulations in force in your area, state or province of residence before installing this type of tire on your vehicle.
On dry or wet roads, the traction and grip of studded winter tires may be lower than those of non-studded winter tires.
