Centralised engine coolant temperature management
K9K
The coolant temperature sensor (for injection and dashboard temperature display) is a 3-circuit sensor:
- 2 circuits for coolant temperature information to the ECU (terminals B H2 and B H3),
- 1 circuit for the dashboard display.
This system controls the cooling fan by the injection ECU. It consists of a single temperature sensor used for injection, the cooling fan, the temperature gauge and the engine coolant temperature warning light on the dashboard.
The cooling fan control request is sent from the injection ECU over the network.
I - COOLING FAN UNIT OPERATION, ENGINE RUNNING
The cooling fan unit is controlled:
- at low speed if the engine coolant temperature exceeds 99 C or if the coolant temperature sensor fails, and it stops when the temperature drops below 96 C,
- at high speed if the engine coolant temperature exceeds 102 C or if low speed is faulty, and it stops when the temperature drops below 99 C.
Low speed, then high speed, of the cooling fan unit is controlled when the air conditioning function is selected on the dashboard.
If low speed is faulty, high speed operates under the operating conditions of low speed.
II - ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT OPERATION
The warning light is controlled by the injection ECU over the multiplexed network.
The warning light comes on steadily if the coolant temperature exceeds 118 C. It goes off when the temperature drops below 115 C.

The warning light is controlled by the injection ECU over the multiplexed network.
The warning light comes on steadily if the coolant temperature exceeds 120 C. It goes off when the coolant temperature drops below 115 C.
