Injectors: Configuration

INJECTOR REPLACEMENT

Note: The C2I (Individual Injector Correction) parameters are a factory calibration performed on each injector in order to precisely adjust the flow rate of each one, taking manufacturing variations between them into account.

These correction values are printed on a label stuck to each injector, then entered into the ECU, which can control each injector while taking their manufacturing variations into account.

The system can be configured through the diagnostic socket using RENAULT CLIP diagnostic tools.

When replacing one or more injectors, the C2I parameters must be replaced. To do so, re-enter the C2I parameters into the ECU using the following commands:

  • Entering all four C2I codes, when replacing the ECU, perform command SC002 "Injector code entry".
  • Individual entry of C2I parameters, when replacing one or more injectors, perform the command:
  • injector cylinder 1: command VP001 (flywheel-side cylinder),
  • injector, cylinder 2: VP002 control,
  • injector, cylinder 3: VP003 control,
  • injector, cylinder 4: VP004 control.

Using the relevant command, the technician can re-enter the new C2I parameters of the replaced injector and delete the old C2I parameters.

Note: Only after simultaneously replacing all four injectors, reset the injector adaptives using command RZ004 "Pressure regulation adaptives".

INJECTORS

Each injector has a 6-character alphanumeric code called IMA (Injector Flow Correction).

This code is specific to each injector. It takes manufacturing tolerances into account and defines the injector's flow rate.

When one or more injectors are replaced, the ECU must learn the code of the new injector(s). If this operation is not performed, engine speed will be limited to 1800 rpm.

Follow the procedure below:

  • replace the faulty injector(s) and establish communication with the ECU:
  • read the data of the replaced injector(s),
  • enter it into the ECU using the diagnostic tool,
  • use the diagnostic tool to make sure the ECU has not detected any faults related to the injector codes and that the dashboard warning light is off.
  • When the ECU is reprogrammed or replaced, the new ECU must learn the codes of all four injectors.

There are two possibilities:

  • if communication with the ECU is possible:
  • download the data from the old ECU to the diagnostic tool,
  • replace the ECU,
  • transfer the data from the diagnostic tool to the new ECU,
  • use the diagnostic tool to make sure the ECU has not detected any faults related to the injector codes and that the dashboard warning light is off.
  • if communication with the ECU is not possible:
  • replace the ECU,
  • read the data from the injectors,
  • enter it into the ECU using the diagnostic tool,
  • reconfigure the ECU for the equipment fitted (air conditioning),
  • use the diagnostic tool to make sure the ECU has not detected any faults related to the injector codes and that the dashboard warning light is off.
