Note: The high pressure check is carried out using the blanking rail tool. It allows the performance of the high pressure pump to be checked with the diagnostic tool during the starting phase. This test allows a precise diagnosis.
  • Check that the starting circuit is working correctly (minimum speed of 200 rpm).
  • Start the engine and let it warm up until it reaches its normal operating temperature.
  • Stop the engine.
IMPORTANT
  • Before any work on the injection circuit, check with the diagnostic tool.
  • That the rail pressure is below 50 bar (see parameters screen).
  • That the fuel temperature is not too high. The pressure can also be read directly using the display unit supplied in the blanking rail tool case: connect the display with the ignition off.
  • Always observe the safety and cleanliness instructions given in this document during every operation.
  • Never loosen a high-pressure pipe connection while the engine is running.
  • Use the special plug kit for the high-pressure injection circuit.

I - FITTING THE "BLANKING RAIL" TOOL

  • Ignition off.
  • Remove the high pressure pump-to-rail pipe (see High pressure pipes).
  • Immediately refit the high pressure pump-to-rail pipe in reverse between the pump and the blanking rail tool.
  • Position the test pipe olive in the high pressure outlet cone of the high pressure pump.
  • Bring the test pipe nut up by hand.
  • Position the test pipe olive in the inlet cone of the blanking rail tool.
  • Bring the test pipe nut up by hand.
  • Tighten the pipe fitting on the "blanking rail" side to torque (2 daN.m).
  • Tighten the pipe fitting on the pump side to torque (2 daN.m).
Note: The tightening torque is deliberately low so as not to damage the blanking rail tool.
  • Check on the body of the blanking rail tool that the relief screw is tightened.

The tool is fitted with a hose and a fuel recovery container.

  • Connect the hose to the return nozzle of the blanking rail tool.
  • Disconnect the injector leak return pipe from the venturi.
  • Plug the venturi.
  • Disconnect the pressure sensor on the rail.
  • Connect the pressure sensor of the blanking rail tool.
  • Connect a rubber hose to the relief outlet of the blanking rail tool and place the other end in a container.
  • Disconnect the flow actuator connector.

II - TEST

IMPORTANT

Operating the starter motor for more than 5 seconds is unnecessary and dangerous.

  • Ignition off.
  • Disconnect the flow actuator on the pump (brown connector).
  • Connect the test adapter supplied with the blanking rail tool.
  • Disconnect:
  • the engine speed and position sensor connector,
  • the cylinder identification sensor connector.
  • Connect the display supplied with the blocked rail tool to the blocked rail tool sensor.
  • Switch on the ignition.
  • Electrically disconnect the four injectors.
  • Apply the brake and press the "START" button.
  • Release the brake pedal after 5 seconds to stop the starter from cranking.
  • Read the pressure on the display.
IMPORTANT

Any loss of the +after ignition supply causes the test to fail.

In this case, it is necessary to:

  • reconnect the injectors,
  • repeat the blocked rail tool installation procedure (injector circuit faults detected when the +after ignition supply is restored prevent a cranking phase).
IMPORTANT

The pump must supply 1050 bar on cranking.

If the pressure value is below 1050 bar, the pump is faulty.

WARNING

Release the pressure using the bleed valve on the blocked rail tool.

III - REMOVING THE "BLOCKED RAIL" TOOL

  • Reconnect:
  • the four injectors,
  • the engine speed and position sensor,
  • the cylinder identification sensor,
  • the flow actuator on the pump.
  • Bleed the blocked rail tool.
  • Check that the pressure is close to 1 bar.
  • Remove the high-pressure test hose.
  • Plug the high-pressure pump outlet while preparing the new high-pressure hose.
  • Fit the new high-pressure pump-to-rail hose (see High-pressure hose).
  • Always discard the used hose.
