Steering Tie Rod Ends
Removal
PROCEDURE
1. Loosen the wheel nuts. Raise the front of the vehicle, support it on stands, chock the rear wheels and apply the parking brake. Remove the front wheel.

2. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the castle nut on the tie rod end, but do not remove it.

3. Holding the tie rod end with pliers or a wrench, loosen the lock nut just enough to mark the position of the tie rod end relative to the tie rod thread.

4. Disconnect the tie rod from the steering knuckle arm using a puller. Remove the nut and detach the tie rod.
5. Unscrew the tie rod end.
Installation
PROCEDURE
1. Screw the tie rod end in to the previously made mark and install it onto the steering knuckle arm. Securely tighten the tie rod end lock nut.
2. Install the castle nut onto the tie rod end and tighten it to the specified torque (refer to Subsection 10.1). Insert a new cotter pin. If the cotter pin hole does not align with the nut slot, tighten the nut slightly further.
3. Install the wheel and wheel nuts. Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque (refer to Subsection 10.1).
4. Have the front wheels checked and adjusted by a specialist.
