The start/stop function of the Volvo S80 (2nd gen) works intelligently and takes numerous parameters into account to ensure safety and comfort. The engine remains running when special demands are placed on the climate control or battery. An auto start takes place automatically when required.

The system warns the driver when an auto start is imminent and protects against unintentional engine starts when the engine compartment is open. This technology provides greater efficiency without taking control away from the driver.

Volvo offers an exemplary combination of environmental awareness and safety here.
