Refueling

Fuel cap - opening/closing

At high outside temperatures, overpressure may build up in the tank. In this case, open the cap slowly.
- After refueling, reinstall the cap and turn it until one or more clicks are heard.
Refueling
- Do not fill the tank with too much fuel.
Stop refueling when the fuel nozzle shuts off.
WARNING: A completely full tank may overflow in warm weather.
Refueling from a canister15
When refueling from a spare canister, use the funnel stored under the luggage compartment floor.
Make sure the funnel spout is inserted far enough into the filler pipe. The filler pipe contains a movable flap that must be opened by the funnel spout before the vehicle can be refueled.

Fuel - handling
Do not use fuel of lower quality than that specified in Volvo's recommendations, as this negatively affects engine output and fuel consumption.
WARNINGDo not inhale gasoline vapors! Protect your eyes from fuel splashes.
If fuel gets into your eyes, remove any contact lenses and rinse the eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Do not swallow fuel! Fuels such as gasoline, bioethanol, mixtures of these two fuels, and diesel are extremely toxic and, if swallowed, can cause permanent injury or death. If fuel is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.
WARNINGFuel spilled on the ground can ignite.
Switch off any fuel-fired heater before refueling.
Never hold a switched-on mobile phone while refueling. The ringing signal can cause sparks and ignite gasoline vapors, which can lead to fire and injury.
IMPORTANTMixing different fuel types or using fuel not recommended by Volvo will void the Volvo warranty and any service agreements. This applies to all engines.
CAUTIONExtreme weather conditions, towing a trailer, or driving at high altitudes, in combination with fuel quality, are factors that can affect vehicle performance.
