Cruise control* - Resume set speed. Cruise control* - switch off. Adaptive cruise control - ACC*
The cruise control in the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) allows the last stored speed to be resumed after an interruption. This section describes activation via the steering wheel button and provides safety notes for use. It also explains how to switch the cruise control off completely and what to observe when using adaptive cruise control (ACC). This keeps driver assistance flexible and safe.
Cruise control* - Resume stored speed
The cruise control system (CC - Cruise Control) helps the driver maintain a steady speed.
After temporary deactivation and standby mode, it is possible to resume the set speed.
To reactivate the cruise control from standby mode:
- Using the steering wheel button
press.> The indicator (5) in the instrument cluster and the symbol (6) change from GREY to WHITE - the vehicle then maintains the last stored speed.
A significant increase in speed may result from resuming the set speed with the button
(see below).

The procedure for switching it off is described here.
The cruise control system is switched off with the steering wheel button (1) or by switching off the engine - the set/stored speed is erased and cannot be resumed with the
button.

Adaptive cruise control - ACC*
Adaptive cruise control (ACC - Adaptive Cruise Control) helps the driver maintain a steady speed and a programmed time gap to the vehicle ahead.
Adaptive cruise control provides a more relaxed driving experience on long motorway journeys or on long, straight roads with steady traffic flow.
The driver sets the desired speed and time gap to the vehicle ahead. As soon as the radar detector detects a slower vehicle ahead, the speed is automatically adjusted to match it. When the road ahead is clear again, the vehicle resumes the selected speed.
If adaptive cruise control is switched off or has been placed in standby mode and the vehicle approaches a vehicle ahead too closely, the driver is instead warned of the short distance by the Distance Warning function.
WARNINGThe driver must always monitor traffic conditions and intervene if adaptive cruise control does not maintain the appropriate speed or distance.
Adaptive cruise control cannot cope with all traffic, weather and road conditions.
Adaptive cruise control has certain limitations of which the driver must be aware. Read all relevant sections of the owner's manual before use.
The driver is always responsible for maintaining the correct distance and speed, even when adaptive cruise control is in use.
IMPORTANTAdaptive cruise control components may only be serviced by a workshop. A Volvo authorized workshop is recommended.
After service work, the ACC function may have a slightly reduced range for a short time. The system calibrates itself while driving and full function is restored automatically.
Automatic transmission
Vehicles with automatic transmission have an extended range of functions with Traffic Jam Assist, a function of adaptive cruise control.

The cruise control in the Volvo S80 (2nd gen) allows the driver to easily resume the stored speed or switch the system off completely. Adaptive cruise control also provides relaxed and safe driving by automatically adjusting speed and distance.
These systems are especially beneficial on long journeys or on motorways, where they reduce the driver's workload and ensure a steady driving flow.
Volvo combines state-of-the-art technology with intuitive operation to raise driving comfort to a new level.
