The Lane Departure Warning (LDW) in the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) is supported by symbols and messages that show the driver the system status. This section explains the different displays, the meaning of the colors, and when the system is deactivated or in standby mode. It also covers the system limitations, such as when the turn signal is activated or during extreme driving maneuvers. Guidance on safe use under different conditions helps you get the most from LDW.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW) - Operation

The Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is supplemented in the instrument cluster by a self-explanatory illustration in various situations. Some examples follow:

Park Assist*

Park Assist helps you park.

An audible signal and symbols on the center console display show the distance to a detected obstacle.

While the audible signal sounds, the volume of Park Assist can be adjusted with the VOL rotary control or in the MY CAR menu system.

Park Assist is available in two versions:

  • Rear only
  • Front and rear.
CAUTION

If the electrical system is configured with a trailer hitch, the overhang of the trailer hitch is taken into account when the function measures the parking space.

WARNING
  • Park Assist can never relieve the driver of their own responsibility when parking.
  • The sensors have blind spots in which obstacles cannot be detected.
  • Watch out for children and animals, for example, that are near the vehicle.
