DESCRIPCIÓN Y FUNCIONAMIENTO

The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is an extremely precise device used to measure the pressure in the engine intake manifold. Inside the sensor there is a metal diaphragm with a small wire attached to it. The diaphragm flexes according to pressure changes. As the diaphragm flexes, the wire attached to it is stretched, changing its own resistance. The engine control module supplies a 5 V reference voltage to the MAP sensor and measures the voltage drop of the sensor signal. The sensor signal is output as a voltage value (V). As pressure decreases, the voltage drop across the sensor increases. The MAP sensor signal is used as the air flow sensor signal to determine the volumetric air flow through the engine and is a very important input signal for the engine control module. Based on the sensor signal, the engine control module determines the required fuel injection quantity (basic fuel injector open time) and ignition timing advance angle.

CONDICIONES PARA DETECTAR LA AVERÍA

The MAP sensor outputs a signal whose voltage is proportional to the pressure in the engine intake manifold. The engine control module checks the sensor signal against the allowable value range. The engine control module will store trouble code P0105 and illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp if the sensor signal voltage remains at 4.5 V or higher for 4 seconds, which corresponds to an intake manifold pressure of 114 kPa or higher, or remains at 1.95 V or lower, which corresponds to an intake manifold pressure of 50 kPa or lower.
